Pre-measure requirements

Confirm municipality and permitting requirements.

Confirm structural work; this should be listed clearly below to facilitate permitting

Arrival at measure

Ask customer if we have installed phases in their home in the past. If so, view install to confirm method.

Confirm contract with customer to include window/door style, color, operation, screening and glass.

Interior Inspection

Assess every opening; never assume windows share dimensions. Check existing opening for level, plumb and square.

Measure width in three points; measure height in three points; cross tape opening.

Assess potential issues with interior blinds, plantation shutters, alarms or other potential obstacles.

Identify each window by number so crews are aware of location and work to be done.

Take pictures of any pre-existing damage, unusual staging requirements or obstacles.

Take note of any accessibility issues (e.g. glass china cabinets, entertainment centers, pianos)

Take note of interior trim style; ask for samples of non-standard trim or use trim comb to profile.

Take appropriate notes for any required structural/opening modification (cut down for egress, header, etc.)

Take note of elevation and glass requirements

Confirm grille type and pattern as required. Take note of adjacent windows that may require NSPR for alignment.

Exterior Inspection

Assess every opening. Check exterior openings for level, plumb,square.

Measure width in three points; measure height in three points; cross tape opening.

Determine if exterior brick, stucco or trim will impact the installation.

Confirm exterior trim style.

Confirm jamb depth for extension jambs

Photo documentation of any staging or exterior obstacles.

Close out with Customer

Discuss any potential issues with install and how these will be addressed

Give customer open-ended time frame for installation; never specify dates

Thank customer for their time and let them know we look forward to working with them.

Completion of Measure

CONFIRM CORRECT WINDOW STYLE, COLOR, ORDER SIZE, OPERATION, etc. BEFORE SUBMITTAL

DOUBLE, TRIPLE CHECK ALL WORK FOR ERRORS BEFORE SUBMITTAL

Maintain symmetry with adjacent windows; size the same and instruct for cut backs as needed

Determine materials required for one time completion of job. This should include:

Check all that apply

Padding materials as needed

Opening prep materials (coil for flashing, insulation)

Interior and exterior trim

Extension jamb materials.

Finishing materials (coil, sealant, glue)

Any specialty trim required. This should be listed in notes below

Trim Notes

Clear job details. Take note of specific window issues, egress requirements, etc. No abbreviations.

NSPR generation for grille alignment, pattern, odd size or shaped windows.
